Horace Mann UCLA Community School Commemorates 100 Years

Horace Mann UCLA Community School celebrated its 100th anniversary on Friday with a community celebration and mural festival. The festival included mural tours, games, free food and a resource fair.

KJLH also provided music while attendees engaged in the myriad of activities.

“To be here as the principal, to me, is a gift,” said Horace Mann principal Maria Cristina Phillips. “I have a wonderful faculty and a wonderful staff and a wonderful student body.”

A basketball court on campus was dedicated to Lakers legend Kareem Abdul Jabbar and his Skyhook Foundation. The mission of the foundation is to provide outdoor STEAM education to marginalized youth.
